This platform’s focal point is to help improve students’ vocabulary and conversational skills. The main part of the platform are stories that can be found in the …….. section. Each story is accompanied by a set of selected vocabulary (20+ words or phrases) and extra tasks for improving written/oral production. The vocabulary from the stories will be put into practice in the online vocabulary courses section where students will find a wide range of exercises to remember the story better, practice the selected vocabulary, word families, prepositions and develope context of the selected vocabulary. After practicing the vocabulary students can begin the storytelling tasks that improve the spoken vocabulary. The last but not least are the conversation lessons with our teachers which provide students with extra guidance in the whole process.

Choose your story

Go to the printable stories section and choose your English level. You will get a selection of stories that are available on your English level. Next, choose the story that you may be interested in by reading the excerpt. Once you have selected your story, open in. You will get a set of vocabulary to learn and the story itself.

Get to know the vocabulary

Before reading the story, it is advised to learn the vocabulary. To do this, you need to check the list of vocabulary and check what words/phrases you might not know. If it’s neccessary, translate the unknown words/phrases into your own language.

Do the first part of exercises

Next, do two exercises that test your knowledge of the vocabulary: connect the definitions with words/phrases, and fill in the gaps exercise (story task 2, vocabulary task 1).

Read/listen to the story and test if you have understood it

Now, you have to options: you can either read the story or listen to the story by listening to our podcast. If you prefer reading you may read it on our platform or download the pdf on your device. If you would like to listen to the story, click on the ‘podcast’ button under the main image of the story. Once you read/listened to the story, do the comprehension exercises.  At this point you should have a good understanding of the vocabulary.

Add more vocabulary from the lesson

There are two more sections of vocabulary that are connected with the story: word families, and verbs + prepositions. Word families expand your vocabulary horizontally by allowing you to build word families from the given word. Verbs + prepositions allow you to practice the combinations of verbs and connected with them prepositions in the context of the story.

Listen to our teachers using the vocabulary

Connect to our podcast and listen to our teachers tell you stories connected with the vocabulary from the lesson.

Start speaking

Now, it;s time for you to do the same thing. It’s time to learn how to speak using the learnt vocab. In the pdf version of the story, you can find a variety task to develop your speaking ability. You will need to retell the story from a list of words, create your own stories, answer discussion questions, describe vocabulary. Here, you will need a speaking partner or a teacher. Try to remember as much as possible

The tricky part of the process is making the vocabulary stay with you. To do this, you should be to recall the story able at all times. Anytime somebody asks you to tell them the story, you should be able to retell it with as much detail as possible. This will make the vocabulary stay with you.
